  • Impresiones de la visita a la exhibición de suelos “Dig It! The Secrets of Soils” del Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.

    Características de la exhibición y temas presentados

    Desde julio de 2008 se esta llevando a cabo una exhibición de suelos en el Museo Americano de Historia Natural (Smithsonian Institution) en Washington DC. La exhibición denominada “Dig it!, The Secrets of Soil” estará funcionando hasta enero de 2010. El objetivo de este breve escrito es comentar  mi experiencia durante la visita a la exhibición de suelos que realicé a mediados de marzo en el marco de un viaje efectuado a Washington DC.
    La exhibición esta estructurada en 6 áreas temáticas. Cada sector contaba con material interactivo, videos, infografías, etc. que permitía a los visitantes vincularse con el mundo de los suelos de un modo muy atractivo y didáctico. El tipo de vocabulario utilizado y los contenidos presentados permitía una adecuada comprensión de los temas para personas no especializadas en la temática. La exhibición se ubicaba adyacente a las salas de geología, gemas y minerales, con varios puntos en común con la exhibición de suelos y recomendables para visitar y recorrer con tiempo.

  • Informe jornada “Calidad de los laboratorios de análisis de suelo. Herramientas para su acreditación” del Comisión de Estandarización de la AACS

    En el mes de octubre de 2008 se realizó una jornada sobre la calidad de los laboratorios de análisis de suelo en las instalaciones de la Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario.
    El Ing. Ariel Soso, subgerente del Departamento Técnico y Gestión de la Calidad de dicha casa disertó sobre la norma ISO/IEC 17025 (IRAM 301) Requisitos generales para la competencia de los laboratorios de ensayo y calibración. Paralelamente realizó la comparación con la norma de gestión de la calidad (ISO 9001) y enriqueció los distintos capítulos de la norma con sus experiencias en la acreditación de varios ensayos que allí se realizan.
    A continuación se presentó un resumen del documento de EURACHEM “The fitness for purpose of analitycal methods. A laboratory guide to method validation and related topics”. El mismo está centrado en los motivos que hacen necesaria la validación de una metodología y cómo puede realizarse sin necesidad de participar en interlaboratorios.

  • Taller sobre Compostaje: Tecnología para la producción y el medio ambiente.

     

    Ciudad de Bariloche (RN), del 21 al 22 de Mayo de 2009

    – La Comisión “Suelos y Medio Ambiente” de la AACS fue electa en el curso del XXI Congreso Argentino de la Ciencia del Suelo, llevado a cabo en Potrero de los Funes, San Luís, en el pasado mes de mayo de 2008.
    – Está integrada por el Ing. Agr. Raúl S. Lavado, presidente; la Dra. María Julia Mazzarino, vicepresidente y la Dra. Patricia Satti y la Lic. Agustina Branzini, vocales. La Comisión tiene entre sus objetivos la organización del Taller sobre Compostaje: Tecnología para la producción y el medio ambiente, que se realizará en la ciudad de Bariloche (RN) en los días 21 y 22 de Mayo de 2009.

    – El temario del Taller es amplio pues se considerarán el proceso del compostaje, las experiencias de producción de compost a partir de distintos residuos, las características del compost, su uso en distintas actividades productivas y paisajísticas y en actividades relacionadas con el medio ambiente. Se atenderán también los procedimientos analíticos para caracterizar distintos compost y se tratará el futuro de este proceso en Argentina y sus aspectos legales.
    – Para el Taller están siendo invitados los principales especialistas del tema de nuestro país, tanto de Universidades, INTA, como empresas. Asistirá especialmente invitada la Dra. Maria Teresa Hernández del CEBAS-CSIC de Murcia. El Taller está abierto a técnicos, usuarios, estudiantes, productores y servirá de base para estructurar un libro que abarque la producción y los temas analíticos, los usos agrícolas, paisajísticos y ambientales del compost y las perspectivas legales en la argentina. Este sería el primer material escrito de esta naturaleza publicado en el país.

  • Simposio “Fertilidad 2009” Mejores Prácticas de Manejo para una Mayor Eficiencia en la Nutrición de Cultivos

    Colaboración especial: AACS, INTA, AAPRESID, CREA Sur de Santa Fe, Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias (UNR), Fundación Producir Conservando
    Objetivo: Presentar y discutir información actualizada en el manejo de la fertilidad de suelos y fertilización de cultivos en el país y el exterior. Las presentaciones estarán a cargo de distinguidos profesionales nacionales y extranjeros.
    Audiencia: Profesionales de actividad oficial y privada. Estudiantes avanzados de Agronomía.
    Costo: $500 antes del 31 de Marzo; $650 a partir del 1 de Abril (Incluye publicación y café). Estudiantes de grado: $250 con presentación de libreta universitaria hasta el 9 de Marzo (cupo limitado).
