    En los últimos años, la cartografía temática ha experimentado un notable cambio como consecuencia del desarrollo continuo de los Sensores Remotos y Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG). Sin embargo, el mapeo de los tipos de suelos y sus características no acompañan totalmente este cambio, a causa de la complejidad de la Geografía de Suelos y de los altos costos de las observaciones directas, entre otras causas.

    A pesar de todos los esfuerzos en el país, los métodos de evaluación son heterogéneos en sus escalas, formatos y procedimientos de elaboración. En general, el esfuerzo de la Ciencia del Suelo en la Argentina es disperso y fragmentado. Hay demasiados estudios empíricos y aseveraciones en la información edafológica que perjudican a la información válida y a la inversión. En la mayoría de las veces, los usuarios de los mapas de suelo no pueden evaluar el costo de lo que obtienen (la pérdida de productividad no se aprecia y la degradación del suelo, entre otros procesos, es a menudo solapada). No hay una evidente comprensión de roles organizativos y de adecuada inversión pública y privada.

    La educación agropecuaria ha asumido diversas formas en el mundo. Como una malla extensa y flexible ha tomado la forma del problema que tenía que resolver. En tal sentido, se manifiesta a través de diversas instituciones o arreglos institucionales, posee diferentes marcos legales, atiende a actores institucionales heterogéneos y adquiere sistematicidad en el sistema educativo o agropecuario. En todos los casos se trata de una forma de educación cuyo contenido se relaciona con la agricultura, en el contexto amplio de las producciones vegetales y animales; con los actores del sistema agropecuario, con los establecimientos que son el eje de esas prácticas y con los servicios y actividades de apoyo que se relacionan con él, y con los territorios que aúnan a las personas, las actividades y los sistemas naturales, culturales y sociales (Plencovich, et al., 2009).
    Cuando hablamos de Educación Agropecuaria en el nivel medio, no podemos reducirla al aprendizaje de cómo realizar cultivos o manejar ganado.

    Las escuelas agropecuarias argentinas tienen tres misiones; dos generales, educativas, de formar integralmente a sus alumnos y prepararlos para los estudios superiores; otra específica, de capacitarlos para el mundo del trabajo, en este caso para el sistema de base agropecuaria
